Subject: Semana 7: Ensinando a falar inglês

Das atividades apresentadas por Valério, resolvi responder as seguintes atividades:

1. Instruções – solução de tarefa

A atividade de instruções é muito interessante e os desenhos podem ser substituídos por localização de lugares (directions). Um aluno recebe uma folha com o mapa de um lugar e com o nome de todos os lugares. O outro aluno recebe uma folha com o mapa com o nome de só alguns lugares e com a lista dos lugares nos quais ele precisa chegar. O aluno que tem o mapa completo vai dando as instruções e o outro aluno vai traçando o caminho. No final os alunos conferem os mapas e vêem se o aluno com o mapa incompleto conseguiu chegar no destino final. Em seguida os alunos trocam de papeis.

Tomando como exemplo o quadro de preposições e o desenho da página 113.

On the right there is an open door. Draw a boy coming in from this door. Put a ball on his left hand. There is a cat on his right side, the cat has its back turned. At the top, in the middle of the picture draw a picture of a boy, his mom and the sun. In the middle, under the picture there is a table. Draw a bottle and a glass on the table on the right and a computer on the left. Put a chair on the left side of the table and draw a woman sit on it, using the computer. Finally, at the bottom, draw a mini-truck on the floor.

2. Atos de fala – Role Play

New: No, I’ve never.
Native: Would you like to go there? There’s an amazing band playing tomorrow.
New: That’s a good idea!

New: Oh, no, I’m afraid I can’t. I’m in a king of diet, so I can’t eat so late at night.
Native: How about going out tonight, after class, for a drink?
New: All right. Let’s do it!

3. Espressar interesse – Conversação

Student B: Oh, really?!
Student A: Yeah. And it was amazing. You know... There were lots of things to do there like… err… the eifell tower, an elevator 23 meters high, in which you fall in hight speed. It was really scaring.
Student B: Yeah! Must be!
Student A: And there was other places to go as much scaring as this. Theee … crazy wagon was the one I liked best. My friends and I went there five times, I think!
Student B: Oh!
Student A: ...You see ... the park opens 10am and closes 8pm, so there’s really much time to have fun! You should go there some day.
Student B:Uh-hum. I’d really love to!

Uma parte do desenvolvimento das minhas habilidades orais foi de acordo com o que Valério diz no texto dela, uma vez que foi na faculdade de letras e ela foi, inclusive, minha professora! Antes de entrar na faculdade eu nunca tinha conversado em inglês de verdade (o que quero dizer aqui é com outra pessoa, numa interação real e não repetindo o que o professor mandou). Antes de entrar para a faculdade o tipo de atividade de speaking que eu fazia na sala de aula era o de repetir. Tinha também os “teatrinhos”, mas era mais decorado e a gente não refletia a respeito do que a gente estava repetindo. Uma coisa que me ajudou bastante na pronúncia foram as músicas. Eu sempre depois de traduzir, decorava a letra original para aprender a cantar. Então eu ficava bem atenta à pronúncia e também à relação entre a letra em inglês e à tradução. Depois de algum tempo eu comecei a ver muitos filmes e eu sempre pegava legendado (eu tinha ódio de filme dublado!) e aí eu comecei a aprender muitas expressões as formas como os personagens as utilizavam. O único problema é que nos filmes aparecem muitas expressões coloquiais e palavrões, só que a gente não sabe demarcar o limite de uso deles e acaba incorporando e usando em situações inadequadas.

Concluindo, acho que o texto de Valério é muito produtivo e nos dá uma boa noção do que é necessário quando se ensina a falar uma língua estrangeira. Não é só vocabulário e gramática que são importantes, as regras (culturais) de uso também são fundamentais. Estratégias de fala são muito importantes, já que uma conversa é uma interação e não monólogos em seqüência! E sobre os erros eu achei muito interessante a estratégia de anotá-los e corrigi-los somente no final, pois de certa forma acho que quando se corrige o aluno na frente de todos e no momento que ele está falando, isso intimida o aluno e faz até com que ele perca a linha de raciocínio.
