LIFE IN GENERAL
EPISODE: HOLLYWOOD PART 1
OPENING SCENE: ASHE AND ELLIE ARE SITTING IN A SPACIOUS OFFICE. THEY SAT IN FRONT OF A DESK, A WOMAN IN A BUSINESS SUIT SAT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DESK REVIEWING SOME PAPERS.
WOMAN
So...you two wish to get an annulment
ELLIE
That’s correct
WOMAN
It says here that you two have been married since 1985. If both of you have been married for all this time, why do you wish to get an annulment now?
ASHE
Look at us...does it look like we’ve been married since 1985?! I was born in 1981!
WOMAN
Arraigned marriages are not uncommon
ASHE
Arranged marriage? Our marriage wasn’t arraigned, we got drunk in Vegas-
ELLIE SHOVED HER HAND OVER ASHE’S MOUTH AND GAVE HIM A LOOK
ELLIE
What exactly will it take for us to go through with this?
THE WOMAN LOOKS OVER THEIR PAPER WORK
WOMAN
Well, from what I can tell here, you two can’t have an annulment
ASHE
What?! Why not?
WOMAN
Unless you have specific reasons as to why you wish your marriage to have never happened, you may not have an annulment, you’ll have to settle for a divorce.
CAMERA ZOOMS ON ASHE AND ELLIE’S FACES AS THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER. SCENE CUTS TO OUTSIDE THE BUILDING. ELIJAH, SAM, AND ALEC ARE SITTING ON A BENCH. RICHARD IS JUGGLING SOME STONES. HE LOOKS UP AS A JEEP PULLS INTO THE PARKING LOT. SHOT PLAYS IN SLOW MOTION AND MAGIC CARPET RIDE BY STEPPENWOLF PLAYS AS A WOMAN WITH LONG BLACK HAIR STEPS OUT OF THE JEEP. RICHARD STARES AT HER WITH HIS MOUTH HANGING OPEN. SHE SHAKES HER HAIR BACK AND FORTH THEN LOOKS OVER AT RICHARD AND SMILES. MUSIC STOPS AS THE MOTION RETURNS TO NORMAL SPEED. RICHARD TURNS TO SAM AND ALEC.
RICHARD
Well, I’m just gonna.....bye
SAM AND ALEC ROLLS THEIR EYES. ASHE AND ELLIE LEAVE THE BUILDING. BOTH LOOK RATHER ANNOYED AND ARE HOLDING SOME PAPER.
ALEC
So? Did you get the annulment?
ELLIE
No. We had to get a divorce
ELIJAH
How come?
ELLIE
They said that we had to have specific reasons to get an annulment rather than a divorce
SAM
So? What was the problem?
ELLIE
She didn’t buy our excuses
ASHE
You didn’t have to tell them I was sterile. Where did you think that was going to get you?
ELLIE
Well you ARE a vampire, I think that means you won’t be able to have children
SAM

ASHE
Oh, that brings up another thing...
ASHE TURNS TO THE REST OF THE GROUP

She told them I tried to kill her and threatened to cut her and drink her blood
HE IS GIVEN BLANK STARES
ASHE

ALEC

ASHE

ELIJAH

ELLIE

ELLIE LOOKS AT THE GROUP
ELLIE
He told them I was trying to take over the world by using my mystic powers
ASHE

ELLIE

ASHE

ELLIE
They don’t have to know that!
ASHE

ELLIE

SCENE CLOSES ON SAM AND ALEC

Maybe they shouldn’t have gotten a divorce. They bicker like an old married couple
ALEC
Well, they have been married since 1985
ASHE

ELLIE

ASHE
You made me seem like the cheating jerk when you’re the one who’s seeing that pansy
ELIJAH

ASHE

ALEC

SAM
Yeah, Ashe and Ellie fighting is messing up my routine
ALEC

ALEC AND SAM STAND UP.

ELLIE

OPENING CREDITS ROLL. SCENE ONE: ALEC STROLLS DOWN A HALLWAY WITH ASHE.

ALEC
You’re coming to see just how admired I am when I stroll back into my dressing room. We’ve been gone for a while now, my manager and fans must be devastated at my absence
ASHE PAUSES FOR A MOMENT THEN SHAKES HIS HEAD MOUTHING THE WORD “NAH”.
ASHE

SCREEN PULLS BACK TO REVEAL SAM BEHIND THEM
SAM
What makes you think people even noticed you’re gone you self-centered imbecile
ALEC
Sam is my lover...why wouldn’t she be here?
ASHE
Okay, why is Ellie here?
SCREEN WIDENS TO REVEAL ELLIE BEHIND SAM
ELLIE
I wanted to be on the set of General Docks again
ASHE

SCREEN WIDENS TO REVEAL ELIJAH BESIDE ELLIE, HOLDING HER HAND

ALEC OPENS HIS ARMS TO HUG STEVEN

ELIJAH AND ELLIE BOTH FLICK THEIR WRIST AND THE WALLS BECOME TRANSPARENT. ASHE SEES ALEC AND SAM IN THE ROOM ACROSS THE HALL. SAM IS IN HER BRA AND UNDERWEAR AND ALEC IS IN HIS BOXERS. THEY’RE MAKING OUT ON A DESK

ELIJAH
What’s wrong, Ashe? It’s a perfectly natural thing
ASHE
Shutup! Oh god, he’s going for the bra! Ellie-!
ELLIE

SHE SNAPS HER FINGERS AND THE WALLS GO BACK TO NORMAL. ASHE BEGINS TRYING TO WIPE HIS EYES
ELLIE

ELLIE

ASHE STARES AT ELLIE AND ELIJAH

You know...when the two of you work together...it’s kinda scary
ELLIE AND ELIJAH SMILE PROUDLY AT EACH OTHER
SCENE TWO: ELLIE AND ELIJAH ARE SITTING IN ELLIE’S BEDROOM. ELLIE’S BLACK CAT IS SITTING ON HER LAP AS SHE GENTLY PETS IT. ELIJAH IS HOLDING THE NECROMONICON LOOSELY IN HIS HANDS. BOTH ARE SITTING ON ELLIE’S BED

So, what are you going to do now?
ELIJAH STARES AT THE BOOK

I don’t know. This era is so different, I’m not sure I fit in

THERE WAS A LIGHT KNOCK AT THE DOOR. ELLIE’S MOTHER SLIPPED INTO THE ROOM. SHE IS HOLDING A TV TRAY WITH TWO GLASSES OF MILK AND A PLATE OF COOKIES ON IT
MOTHER
I’m sorry, you two...I thought you might be hungry
SHE SETS THE TRAY DOWN BESIDE THEM. SHE STANDS THERE FOR A MOMENT ADMIRING ELLIE AND ELIJAH. HER EXPRESSION IS OF HAPPINESS, EXCITEMENT, AND RELIEF

ELLIE SMILED POLITELY

ELIJAH LOOKED AT ELLIE. ELLIE GLANCED AT ELIJAH THEN SMILED AT HER MOM

ELIJAH SMILED AS THEY KISS AGAIN. THE CAMERA PANS DOWN TO THE NECROMONICON LAYING OPEN ON ELLIE’S BED. A BREEZE FROM ELLIE’S OPEN WINDOW BLEW SOME OF THE PAGES. THE PAGES STOP AND THE CAMERA FOCUSES ON THE CAPTIONS WHICH READ “A KISS OF INTELLECTUAL CONTROL”
