Subject: Newburgh 1960 Joe Mitchell - Natl Archives

National Archives footage, Newburgh 1960. Joe Mitchell's "13 Points" on Welfare reform. Mitchell got run out of Newburgh because of his "13 Points". Many of them were adopted by and incorporated into the Welfare laws of the federal government.

If we look at the footage of Newburgh in the film and look at Newburgh today, the major difference is that the "slums" are called "green spaces". Newburgh's solution to the problem: demolition. When we look at the city government then and now, there's little difference other than the absence of Joe Mitchell.

"When will they ever learn?"

(PS: Tried to post this to the other board. It got deleted.)
