Over the many years there has been a very defeatist attitude hanging over Newburgh and a belief that no good will ever come this way again. To that end the caring people stopped caring and turned the town over to the ones who came here claiming they could and would make it all turn around and make it better again. Well those people were coming with their own pie in the sky dreams of making a fast buck on the backs of the local idiots and bolting to the next great adventure. No good has come from them and the defeatists have just rolled in their own self pity watching our once beautiful architecture turned to empty lots of rubble and our once beautiful history turned to just another chapter in the book of failed river towns of America.

Then comes the population shift and the free riders from everywhere. Ghetto attitudes and gang mentalities and a huge sense of entitlement. Migrants who come to work the local farms, make a Yankee dollar to send out of the country and whose eligibility to work is never checked because the labor is as cheap as the dirt they work in. Even our own farmers kneel to greed while our Newburghers refuse to take responsibility and help to sustain local businesses including our great history of agriculture.

The ghetto attitudes sit on the front stoops waiting for the check to be delivered. The gang mentalities frighten anybody of good character with bloodshed and drug wars. And our town turns to empty streets, empty houses, empty lots. And the droves of ne're do wells make sure allstays this way when they see to it that even the local government supportsand protects them! And too bad but they're very successful at it, as we see today in the empty lots and decayed old stone and brick that remains boarded up.

So where does Newburgh go from this point? The government is nothing more than a puppet of the scum and dreg who still take pride in the town's status of top 10 worst cities in America and that government's bias is so obvious that in any civil town of any education the members would be hauled off and sent out. But in Newburgh they know they're safe because they are put there by the ones who will see to it that Newburgh keeps its status and who will make sure Newburgh becomes so saturated with the violent and low life that nobody will dare come to disturb the destruction the town's name has come to mean.

Low income housing on Broadway is a monument to the success of those who came, saw, conquered and destroyed. It's also a monument to the complete apathy and failure of those who once built lives and business here but chose to sit and whine in their kitchens rather than defend their little bit of what used to be a nice place to build a home.

The river front industry is gone. The corridor industries are non-profit fronts of pseudo religious freaks and self-proclaimed rehabbers. Any suggestions for improvrments that don't pander to particular types are crushed. Until this destructful element is cleaned out Newburgh will continue on the road toward either one big open field or it WILLbecome the heart of the cancer it's choosing to represent.
