We always go in May, a couple of weeks after you and have only encountered noseeums on one occasion (and it was BAD). Until that trip, we had not known of their existence, so it is likely that you, a few weeks earlier, have a good shot at not seeing any either; or you could have bad luck. I think you have chosen a pretty good time of year in that regard though. The red algae comes and goes as it pleases, with little regard for month, but from what I understand, it has not been bad of late.
