Where has the time gone? I had not realized it was so long since Ive written.
We were moved into the new house as soon as it was somewhat liveable. (none too soon, the way I was growing). Here some months later, I am happy to write that the house is finished for the most part, and the brothel is coming along and should be finished within a few weeks.
The twins love it here, and have their own room with a mock cave to hide and climb in. They spend most of their time between lessons, home and the manor with Rose..and now with their new pets of which I will write later.
They are coming along well with their lessons Kyslith said, and they are for the most part very well behaved.
Kyslith has moved in, and we are glad he is here. He has also taken quite a liking to Laura, and she is his near constant companion.
Nobi has taken on a few more responsibilities here, in hiring for the guards that will watch the gate and wall, as well as the brothel itself. Only lately, has he begun to take on some of the girls training, for we have "adopted" another one.
Bette is her name..one of the middle or oldest daughters of the woman that Lucas aided in court months ago, and had been hired by Rose at the manor. The woman had a number of children, but Bette it seemed gave everyone hell, to the point that Rose wanted us to keep her. If I had not promised to keep her out of the brothel, I have to say that is the first place I would have sent her. She proves not only to be stubborn and willful, but makes bad choices and coerces her sister Laura. I have not lost faith that we can change it, but it is just one more thing on our plate.
Meg is very well behaved, and adores her Master, whom as of late, spends much time at the brothel. We have hired a woman named Mama Jack to mother the whores, and I believe Lucas said the last count was 8 female whores and three dandies, including Jim Flash, who is not only colorful but quite amusing to be around, and I do believe would screw anything that walked. The building itself should be finished soon, and I do hope opening night doesnt come before the baby does.
I have not forgotten about the twins new pets...dogs..Dogs! Do I not ask myself daily why I agreed to it. One a huge mastiff and one a shephard..they are but pups yet, but the house is chaos when the twins have them inside. Lucas and the twins are working on their training, and though I complain, they really have not been much trouble. Lucas has never had a dog..and he seemed as eager to have them as the twins did. I could not say no.
Meanwhile, I grow bigger every day with what we are sure is a son. Rose will come and spend the last couple of weeks with us, and I will be glad to have her around again. I miss her more than I would ever tell her. I have to wonder if she and Mose have tied the knot yet, it would be just like them not to tell anyone.
Lucas had gone off to the sea port a few weeks ago, and surprisingly, spotted the Viper and Spade. She refused to do business with him until she has spoken with me..but I can say, that isnt going to happen until after the baby comes, if at all. Ill not trust the woman again.
That seems to catch things up, though Im sure I have forgotten something.
One thing is certain..for once in my life, I have everything I want. I sleep at night..comfortably, and I am content in knowing my children are safe.
I suppose its natural to wonder when the other shoe will drop. Things never seem to remain good for long.
Yet this time..I am hopeful. I have Lucas at my side.
