There would definitely have to be a change in the laws that govern us all. Could you allow 'necessary murder' to happen on a daily basis? Doubtful. But could you persecute a species tht depends on that murder for their survival? How could anyone work that out?
As for a cure, would that be like vampire 'rehab' once they began the process of taking an antidote? Would they occassionally fall off the wagon? Would they have to have scheduled doses to prevent a bloodlust? Are there vampires who PREFER to kill their prey? That definitely brings up a lot of moral and societal questions for both species, doesn't it?
