The importance of Intercultural Communication

Globalization, increase of medias(ww), new politics and comercial relations, have been causing a huge impact on contemporary society. Since the relationship between cultures has been changed, the cultural differences received a special atention(sp). The local culture has been influenced by global values, and this affect the stability of local society. Culture is a social product, and it is based on the interaction between people, religion, arts, language, habits, customs and social rules. The communication between different cultures implies more than just (v) know a language, its(sp) necessary to have a background, to understand this process it is necessary to go beyond it, (v) know relevants aspects of a specific culture should facilitate the intercultural process.
Language is the first aspect of a different culture that a person who is travelling abroad needs to know. Language is influenced by the(x) culture everyday, so it is completely related(v). (V)Know the vocabulary is just the first step, it is also important to know how to use intonation and (v) select aproppriated words.
Second, there are many different ways to solve a problem. This is completely related with prejudice and stereotypes. The way that German police deals with a problem, for example, is completely misunderstood by other cultures. It is important to realize that each culture have(wvf) a way to deal with a problem.
Third, different cultures have different values. The Americans(sp) values focus on individualism, while Brazilians(SP) focus on collectvism. Americans(SP) priority is their personal realization, their free time to relax, and their freedom to express their opinions. On the other hand, Brazilians do not have the(X) freedom to express their opinion, they do not valorize the(X) free time and do not care about personal and profissional realization. So, if there is no background about that attitudes can be interpreted as unpolite(WVF) and arrogant.
In conclusion, intercultural communication is very important to understand, comprehend and respect other cultures(V) aspects. (V)Know that different cultures have different customs it(X) is a way to avoid the prejudice and the stereotype.
