Subject: HERES SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE TALKED ABOUT

Years ago getting the age division beauty was a wonderful title to get. Now it means nothing to the pms. Back when pageants were different, It was the highlight of the pageant because there was only one title higher and it was "ONE" overall grand supreme that won more. It really meant something to win beauty. All you had to compete against was the kids in your division. The directors have added all the overall titles to the point that no one wants to win just the beauty title. They rarely give much for it.I personally think they would get more contestants if they would just go back to doing that. They have taken beauty out of the pageants because the contestant is so fake now that beauty cant be judged anymore. They all have the same face, teeth and hair on them. I guess we all have an opinion, but the directors have given their pageants over to the vendors. They do control the pageants because the directors have let them have control instead of the parents. If the vendors don't come they have no pageant. NOW THAT IS OUT OF CONTROL,and that raises our fees to attend because we know if we don't pay their high fees we dont have a chance. YOU DIRECTORS NEED TO RETHINK WHAT YOUR DOING. You cry for contestants every year, but make it impossible for most of us to support you.

[> Great point...how can you win beauty when it is not actual beauty..it is bought, fake beauty.....makeup and having your hair fixed should be enough, but to have a chance you have to have a wig, fake teeth, fake tan, etc....that is not the definition of what beautiful is. And don't get me started on the digital photos...they don't even look like the child..the fake crap is out of control... -- Anonymous, 10:32:25 11/11/07 Sun [1]

[> [> I agree 100%. I gave a small local pageant and I double crowned. The division queens and princesses all received nice gifts and a crown and one of these girls was crowned again as Supreme and received another gift. Most of the moms hated the double crowning but I wanted the girls who deserved it to win. I also did not allow anything fake and because of this had very few contestants. So there is noting you can do to please everyone. -- Anonymous, 11:04:57 11/11/07 Sun [1]

[> I love for my daughter to win beauty, but as it is now...it means nothing to most moms. I love the pageants that have a queen, 2 runnersup, and photogenic winner. Then maybe a Supreme queen with the highest scores from the entire pageant. Sounds old school I know, but it just seems crazy to me to have so many optional awards...I have seen girls win most beautiful and not even place in beauty...it is a beauty pageant and to me beauty means the whole package...a well together look, a cute personality and of course BEAUTY. -- Anonymous, 13:36:42 11/11/07 Sun [1]

[> [> Well, it make them compete against everyone at the pageant instead of just their age division for a big title and cash. That's what makes the difference. Thats why the same kids keep winning all the prizes and money. I think its terrible. -- Anonymous, 16:39:05 11/13/07 Tue [1]

[> [> [> Yes, that way the money stays in the age divisions. The same kids take the money everytime. Most of them are about the same age. It's really stupid if you think about it. -- Anonymous, 17:08:28 11/14/07 Wed [1]

[> If your DD actually represents her titles, it doesn't matter what "title" she wins--Supreme or age division. People watching the parades or attending the festivals where your DD is making an appearance don't know the difference. It only matters to those petty PM's who are chasing crowns. -- Anonymous, 17:00:46 11/20/07 Tue [1]

[> [> I don't think it is the director's idea to have so many awards. The moms demand it. We have programmed our kids to think they should always win something big. Years ago, it was a big honor to even place in beauty. Some pageants make up a title for every child in the pageant. Ridiculous! Children need to learn that they will not always win. -- Anonymous, 13:56:48 11/22/07 Thu [1]

[> The whole point is that the beauty title should pay big money and forget all the overalls except on. OVERALL MEANS ONE OVERALL NOT 10 -- Anonymous, 09:44:26 11/24/07 Sat [1]

[> [> Back when my dd competed you double crowned. If a girl won everythg in her group, she was usually the O/A winner. Moms will not accept that now. They want a title at every pageant. If you were to hold a pageant like years ago, no one would come becus they have gotten so used to always coming home with a crown & title. -- Anonymous, 10:33:11 11/26/07 Mon [1]

[> my daughter was 3rd runner up once at a huge state pageant. None of the other pageants could understand why I was excited about runner up. To me, my daughter scored better than the others in her group. There were like 30-something kids. SHE GOT 3RD RUNNER up. To me, she did awesome. So what someone got even better than her? That didn't lessen my child's accomplishments. To this day, I am still very proud of that and that trophy sits on the same shelf as her queen ones. c/i -- Anonymous, 08:52:12 01/01/08 Tue [1]

I went to a pageant that awarded age division queen, overall age division and age division supreme. Well, there were only about 6kids in the group. That meant that half walked away with something. So the other 3 that got nothing felt bad. Most pageants have a smaller turn out so kids in a group with just a few where most walk away with something are going to see that "everyone else" got something and they didn't. Whereas one winner is one winner. All sports have just one winner. One team made the top of the playoffs. One girl wins the gold. Only in pageants is there white gold, yellow gold, platinum, silver and bronze. The gold is great but it gets it's value lessened by whatelse is given also.

Pageants should have one age division queen and an overall for the pageant. That's it. without all those extra titles, then that's less crowns and sashes to purchase lowering the director's cost.

[> [> I agree but what is with PRELIM pageants charging $200-$300 for ONE title and Queen? I am willing to go to one title if the price reflects it. -- Anonymous, 06:23:26 01/02/08 Wed [1]
