[> Videotape him dancing, and let him watch his own posture. Have him practice in front of a mirror so he can see what he is doing. The arms and front lean may happen in times of rapid growth, but actually seeing it helps the dancer to fix it. Also remind him to roll his shoulders back just before he starts to dance. -- Irishmama, 05:45:28 08/07/08 Thu [1]

[> Practise in front of a mirror, keep calling on him when he is practising to pull back his shoulders. My son has to especially pull himself back when he is going into a leap or else he bends forward. -- hth, 07:43:43 08/07/08 Thu [1]

[> Work on core strength - sit-ups, etc. I've encourage ds not to give up karate since they work on core and upper body exercises. -- mom of ds/dd, 08:30:36 08/07/08 Thu [1]

[> [> Knock out their shoulder and have it re-set in the hospital..... joking!! When he works on and improves his core strength, and learns to use tummy muscles to lift instead of his arms, it will all come together. Don't ask me when though for i'm still waiting for the pnny to drop with me ds and he would have a good core strength but still one arm fliesout when he does a leap. -- Keep working at it, 10:15:07 08/07/08 Thu [1]

[> I honestly don't think adjs give a hoot about arms. I have seen dancers place high and yet they have arms which fly all over the place. -- seriously, 11:44:43 08/07/08 Thu [1]

[> [> ds has had arms or hand as comments - used gradually open the left hand as he was dancing and he lost .5 off of a mark that gave him a 2nd & the only comment was hand - the arms comments were during growth spurts -- ecr mom to a ds & dd, 20:59:14 08/14/08 Thu [1]
