This photo was published on 18th July, two days before the final night. Miss Israel, Sara Tal (left) and Miss Germany, Marina Orschel (right) chat backstage as an international incident of pulchritude was smoothed over. Earlier, Miss Israel, refused to be photographed with Miss Germany because “she’s a nice girl, but if I posed for a picture with Miss Germany I would be afraid to go home and face my mother.” She explained that her mother’s family had been killed in Germany during the war.
