Miss Universe 1956. Interesting Facts 7.

Miss Germany Marina Orschel, and Miss Israel Sara Tal, patched up their feud before it could cause an international incident. Miss Israel had refused to have her picture taken with Miss Germany because she said many of her relatives had been killed by the Nazis.

Miss Israel said, however, that she had nothing personal against the German girl and contest officials persuaded the two girls to pose smilingly together, patching up the incident.
