From left to right: Miss Sweden, Inger Jonsson, 20, of Malmo; Miss France, Lisa Simon, 22, of Argenteuil; Miss Iceland, Bryndis Schram, 19, of Reykjavik; Miss Austria, Hanneri Melcher, 19, of Vienna; Miss Belgium, Janine Hanotiau, 19, of Brussels; and Miss Israel, Atara Barzely, 18, of Tel-Aviv, jumping for joy atop the Savoy Plaza Hotel in New York are these international lasses whose aspirations tend towards the Miss Universe 1957 crown at Long Beach, California.
