Miss Universe 1956. Photo 36.

This photo was published on 12th July, eight days before the final night. Food was the first thought in the minds of Miss Italy, Rossana Galli (left) and Miss France, Anita Treyens (right), as they deplaned at Long Beach for the upcoming Miss Universe contest and immediately tried out an old American favourite, coffee and doughnuts. All told, 38 of the expected 80 entrants arrived, each dressed in native attire.
