Subject: The meaning of Hipolito is "Horse releaser". Its origin is "Spanish variant of the Greek name Hippolytus". In Greek mythology, Hippolytos is the son of Theseus and Antiope or Hippolyte. He gained the attention of his stepmother Phaedra, who, when rejected by Hippolytos, accused him of rape. Believing his wife, Theseus used a wish he had gained from Poseidon to curse his son. He was dragged to his death by frightened horses.
