They pose for photographers at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York before heading to Long Beach, California. From left to right: Miss Puerto Rico, Wanda Irizarry; Miss Norway, Synnove Gulbrandsen, Miss Belgium, Elayne Cortois, Miss Uruguay, Alicia Ibáñez; Miss South Africa, Ingrid Rita Mills; Miss Denmark, Jytte Olsen; Miss Sweden, Ulla Sandklef; Miss Finland, Teija Sopanen and Miss Turkey, Ayten Akyol.
