Subject: Hi Linda. My answers won't be entirely straightforward being that some of this plays out in the next book. Things happen 'off camera' as well. I'll put the rest of my reply inside>>>
In reply to: Linda 's message, "Hello, Cindy. Newbie here. I really would like to pick your brain about Violet and her actual role in Flights of Angels. I was dumbfounded when she left the gulag "willingly" with the KGB? Was she actually KGB or forced into a role for them.? I sense she was to get information from first Andrei and then Jamie. But, what specific information. And how, how could she just walk away from her baby? I would love to hear further from you on this whole topic. And, lastly, did Andrei actually sacrifice himself for his son and Jamie? I know Andrei sent information with Jamie in the chess pieces but what, exactly, was it? Curious minds want to know! LOL!" on 12:14:54 03/16/14 Sun

So in this next book (the one I'm working on now) some of these questions will be answered- specifically what Violet was doing. She left the baby behind because she knew because ultimately she knew it was the better choice for Kolya. Her future is uncertain, and during that time children of prisoners were taken away at eighteen months and put into orphanages. So leaving him with Jamie whom she may or may not know has a chance at escape is the better choice, her future is likely very uncertain, even she may not know what faces her. We'll find out if the KGB was her choice or not. Let's just say there are a lot of smoke and mirrors with her. Andrei worked and lived in a top secret camp- he would have incredibly valuable information about the projects he worked on. This too will come to more light in book four as Jamie's life as a spy opens up more fully. Unless Andrei resurfaces unexpectedly then yes, I believe he did sacrifice himself for Jamie and Kolya. And the info in the chess pieces- that too will come more to light in book four.
