Subject: I wasn't sure about Love but certainly didn't see coming what happens later on with his character. Sometimes, I'm just not sure who is a secondary character or where that character will take me but that's a part of reading that I love experiencing.

  • I never realized how discriminated against the Irish were here. I had read and heard many stories but it just didn't click that it was so extensive. My Grandmother was first gen Boston-Irish who ended up moving out west. Whenever I would ask about that part of her life she would simply say "it was a long time ago" and change the subject. Guess I now know why. As for Lovett - all I can say is I was finding him an almost likeable sort until he asks Casey to join his "organization." Don't know why but that one word just screamed "mob, maffia, bad-guys" to me. Maybe it's from watching too many movies but wouldn't a politician say "our cause" or "our team"?
