Subject: Exit Unicorns Chapters 31 and 32

Chapter 31, 'Divorce Me, Darling'
'Spring had arrived on the hill'
Photobucket

This chapter opens with Pamela at the footgate to Jamies's house. She finds herself reflecting on everything she will miss about the House of Kirkpatrick, including Jamie himself.
She has come to tell him of her marriage to Casey and to tender her resignation.
Pamela finds Jamie drunk and already aware of the situation.

Jamie questions her motive 'Did you marry him to spite me?'

He tells her he has divorced Colleen, did so before learning that she and Casey had wed and that he loves her.
Why now?

We also learn, not only has Jamie come off the fence regarding Pamela, but politics as well. He has cast his name into the arena for his fathers vacated seat in Parliament.
Do you think Jamie intended, all along, to take his fathers role in politics?

Chapter 32, 'Sinking Ships'
'For a man who'd no great fondness for water Casey Riordan seemed to be spending an inordinate amount of time in it.'
Photobucket

We find Casey and Seamus hidden, chin deep in icy cold water, waiting for the delivery of a gun shipment.
- I know this is in no way a funny situation, but I couldn't help giggling at the picture in my mind of these two hiding in the water, trading wisecracks, being spied on by ducks and Seamus sneezing!
I was left, though, with an icky feeling - I believe there was something or someone else lurking and watching them.

It is obvious to Casey, when the boat arrives, that something is not right. The two make it to shore before the boat crashes and explodes.

After a brief waiting period, Casey strips (thud *g*) and searches the charred remains of the boat. The guns were not aboard.
