Subject: 2. To me as a reader, finding wee Jo was almost a blessing. At least now there was some closure, a knowledge of what happened to her. Although the reality was horrid, oftentimes not knowing is worse. Having to tell Robin would have been brutal and I can't even imagine how you begin such a conversation.

  • 3. I did feel so sorry for Robin here. He was obviously a good boy as a youngster but was so damaged and twisted by his parents and his own guilt over his sister's death lead him to be the person he was. "Suicide by cop" is a phrase used to describe a situation where someone basically forces the police to shoot him/her by their uncontrolled and threatening behaviour. In many ways, Robin's involvement with the IRA and crime where his own attempts to be killed or at least punished by others for what he saw as his role in his sister's death. A burden no young man should have to bear. (NT) -- Carla, 18:44:26 10/17/07 Wed
  • Suicide by Cop - my husband had to deal with one of those when he was a rookie. When I heard the story I wondered how i would deal with situations like these for the rest of my marriage. Luckily we haven't had too many horrible things like that happen again. (NT) -- JaneH, 03:39:28 10/18/07 Thu
