Subject: 6. Yes, I think deep down he knew- he was uneasy about it, he says earlier he's felt it all along, that something isn't right between them and he knows it's not on his side. When he lays claim to her in 'Nine Tenths of the Law' it isn't really Jamie that's bothering him. I don't think it makes him a coward, just a man in love who doesn't want to face the truth- because what will that mean for his marriage. He gives all of himself unstintingly with Pamela- I don't think he would have sensed things were off if he didn't. Plus there's the reason she did it, which is a very bitter pill for him to swallow.
