He also trusts Jamie implicitly with Pamela, something that irks him, but that he also counts upon when he cannot be there. Things change a great deal in this third novel- the shift in balance between the three etc. Casey is very much a MAN now, boyhood is gone completely from him and he moves to a different place in his life, if that's not too cryptic.
