Subject: I think as the reader we have the benefit of not existing in the situations we are reading about. We have the ability to separate, ruminate and come up with our solution. The characters are living in the moment, so to speak, so at times its frustrating to see them do things we thing are wrong. I get frustrated with Pamela, but I think its because she's a risk taker and I am not. Thus most things she does make me nervous for her - I want to yell at her sometimes! *g* But she's definitely a person who keeps the story going and for that we have to love her...
In reply to: celtgirl 's message, "I know Pamela makes people mad- but maybe it'll help if I tell you she's a very opaque character, so her underlying motives etc run pretty deep, so I don't always agree with her either, but I do enjoy her all the same. Sometimes there are female characters in other books that I want to scream at- I don't often have the same reaction to male characters. So I wonder if we cut females less slack than we do the males? Just a note of curiosity." on 13:31:19 10/02/07 Tue
