Subject: mixed thoughts.... (Glee spoilerish, kinda...)
In reply to: Jeannine 's message, "Why Glee makes me sad" on 12:10:26 04/21/10 Wed

I've watched the new 90210 and have been amazed at just how sex-crazed they are on that show. 90210 was big when I was in middle school and it was nothing like the new one in regards to sexual content.

I'm admittedly not 100% sure how much Glee is aimed at kids. Is there Glee merchandise like Barbies and backpacks? I have no idea. A lot of my friends (late 20s/early 30s) watch. Honestly, I don't think there is more sex in Glee than they encounter at school. (Which is a problem, no doubt)

For me, this just stresses the most important thing of all - parenting. Parents have to be on top of what it is their impressionable kids are watching. They just do.

As for this particular Glee episode, I do think it is noteworthy that not all characters chose to have sex. In fact, it was pointed out that the guidance counselor took control of her body by saying she was not ready.

90210, on other hand, is just a bunch of crazy teen sex. My young teen would not be watching it.

I have done some prom dress photo shoots since beginning my photography business. I bought the TEEN prom issue just to check out what is current, get some posing ideas, etc. I was pretty appalled at the dresses in there. Cut low, cut high, cleavage galore. Aye yi yi. Pop culture in general is sex, sex, sex and it just gets younger!
