In reply to: Alfred Whiteside 's message, "Observation of 5.80 Class" on 20:44:27 06/24/12 Sun

I would like to respond to this line of posts started by Alfred Whiteside. First let me say that our group(Outlaw 580) is an All Run field. Qualifying only gets you a spot on the ladder based on your performance. We have allowed other racers in the past to enter the field without qualifying. We do this to try to work with everyone that may be having problems or getting to the track late. We let Chris run without qualifying 2 races ago and we offered to let Wilmer to run with us 3 races ago when he arrived at the track after qualifying had been completed. So, the precedent had been set prior to Paul even coming to the track.
Secondly, I take full responsibility for allowing Paul to race with us. He explained his situation and I approved his decision to not make a qualifying pass. I do not feel that he "played" us...rather he ran his car much better than all the other racers, except Rick Russell. All of the regular 580 racers were not on their game this past Saturday and deserved to get beat....me included. When the best qualifying pass was a 5.87 in a 5.80 race....well that is simply put poor performance.
Third and final response.....I think the way this issue was handled was in poor judgement. I was at the track and could have been spoken to in person. I am open to any ideas and any constructive criticism. There is a right way to handle every issue...and there is a chicken shit way to handle them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion...but let's be gentlemen(and ladies) about it and just race and have fun.
If further conversation with me is needed please see me at the track on most Saturdays.
Sincerely, Jeff Denton

Well now we know who is responsible, but regardless that's not how to run a show, there was nothing chicken shit about my post. Just stating facts. And I can talk to you at the track. Side

I have ran organized groups for several years and I will do what it takes to improve the group and make it better for the fans. Even if he qualified low on the ladder he still had to run the fast guy. It's an index! Can't run a game on an index his chances of breaking out are the same as anyone else. And with the track conditions can't say you will be a 5.800 . It's great that he agreed to run with the class WIN or LOSE. He was just having fun and got to go rounds.
Also, all this makes the class sound like a lot of fun now and if I had a dog in the hunt I would run it too.
Side: hope to see you back out sometime with yours!
Sincerely
Summer
