Subject: I'm putting this up here, just so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle of posts!

Wondering if he should check on the condition of Gage in ICU first, Agent Maxwell decided it was more important to check on Tommy Stratton's condition first, and see if he couldn't finally catch up with his sister. If the boy had taken a turn for the worse, it stood to reason that family would be by his side for the duration.

Finding Tommy's room, he looked around quickly for a nurse. Seeing noone, he inched his way towards the heavy wooden door and slowly pushed it open. Confusion set in when the bed was decidedly empty. Not only empty, but stripped.

"Can I help you?" A voice from behind startled him

"Um, yes, I was hoping to see Tommy Stratton," Max explained, without going into further detail.

The nurse's face suddenly changed expression to one of sympathy. "Oh, I'm so sorry, but little Tommy passed away during the night."

Max took in a deep breath. He was not prepared for that kinds of news. All he wanted was to talk to the sister, and now this little boy...Having kids of his own, he felt a deep sadness and said a silent prayer for the child he'd never met.

"The sister, Josie..." Max started to ask. "Was she here?"

"Yes, she was. Poor thing. Shook her up pretty hard, I think. It's really hard to tell with that girl. She doesn't let much in. It's been a long year for her." The nurse seemed to have respect and compassion for this girl. Max wondered if he was barking up the wrong trail.

"She left shortly after he died. Didn't say a word. Just walked right on out of here like she was gong to a fire or something," the nurse continued.

Max didn't like the sound of that. Deep down, he was developing a bad feeling. Thanking the nurse for her help, he pulled his notepad out of his jacket pocket. Noting the Stratton address, he hastened to leave.
