1. The soundscape of the beatles went from a more pop, upbeat, teen friendly genre, example: 'A Hard's Days Night' and 'I want to Hold Your Hand', to a more mellow, subdued, and lucid theme of songs such as 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and 'Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds'. The structure of the pop songs were the typical ABBA structure, with the usual rock guitar and low sustained strings. The new more "experimental" phase of music contained the A+A1+B structure, and used only simple electronics. So just looking at the instrumental and structural changes provide as an adequite example to how the beatles genre of music changed over time.
2.Along with the structural and instumental change of the beatles style, came the change of their lyrics and their meaning...the beatles started out with catchy pop songs that contained lyrics that the teenagers of the time could relate to, such as,
"And when I touch you
I feel happy inside,
It's such a feeling
That my love I can't hide,
I can't hide, I can't hide.
Yeh, you got that something,
I think you'll understand,
When I feel that something,
I wanna hold your hand"
These lyrics proved to be very popular among the audiences and they had the instrumentation that people would want to break out and dance to. Then over time the lyrics and structure began to change, the lyrics went from relatable to non-relateable and more metaphoric, such as in the song, Strawberry Fields Forever:
"Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone.
But it all works out,
It doesn't matter much to me.
Let me take you down,
'Cos I'm going to Strawberry Fields"
