The Cultural change of music and popular culture before the 20s all the way up through the 60s is huge. Overall though music went from being very one dimentional to becoming very diffrent in all diffrent ways. This is because new types of music would would evolve. Also instruments technolgy in general took over and changed what people veiwed as being intreging to them. As society moved a long people became more and more open to do things that the previous generation or society would not think would be ok. For example no one would have ever thought about dancing like they would back then in the 1800s and in the 1920-40 no one thought that it would be ok to open with sexual things like they were in the 60's. Overall the changes of the years with popular culture has been the new generation doing or acting in a way that the previous generation wouldnt have been ok with.
