Good Company - Click Here For Voice

Good Company

You came
for a little coffee,
a little conversation…
you and that smile of yours

and you offered up a challenge…
a little something
to spark my muse
somehow you knew
I’d like it like that

an invitation
to crawl inside
your skin
and sing for you
because you knew I could
and I knew I would

you wanted to read me
write you…
to spill your words
in the deep
husky tones
of my voice

that they may
fall, from
my open mouth
as mist, seeping
to your every pore

“write me a poem”, you said
so I breathed deep
your spirit
letting the shadow tide
bathe me
in hues of yester days,
and little boy memories
that still bruise
what was kissed
by the sun

your warrior heart
weary from the fight
longing
to be happy
but it’s hard
to speak tribal
with your tongue
still tied
to the past

yet you soften
and I catch you in glimpses
that would glisten
with the right touch
and let me tell you
~ woman to man ~
it is no sign of weakness
for a man
to pour poetry
to the soft of woman
while he loves
with slow hands

it’s a privilege to see you there
even in glimpses
and my heart thanks yours
for this poem

I can’t give you what you want
and I can’t make you happy
but I can peel away
your yesterday mask
and make you
real...
without fear

~ awww...thank you, sweet one...

actually it's funny you should say that, Andz, I was blessed to witness one of my nieces being born, I was right thurrr when she came out...and through the final stage of labour I was talking to my sis' inlaw, keeping her calm (and drug free), and focused (I even massaged her legs when she cramped up)...anyway, almost the first thing she said, after bubs was born, was how soothing my voice was........sorry for the story, but your comment triggered that memory, so thank you so much for that...

and thank you for YOU!!!

Hi Sasha, I stumbled here from NH, and glad to find an Audio forum,

all poetry should be read aloud!

it was such a pleasure to recline in this piece, you pause in all the right places

and it sat gently on my heart

thanks!

Sammie

Sash,

As I told you before and I make no bones about saying it again, I believe this is one of the most sensual reads you have done. I know you were tired LOL, but the pace and tone of it have true feeling for the words.

Smilin at you Hon,

Peace and love,

Paul.

Still diggin' that accent :)

To take the time to peel back the layers of life and see beyond the facade is nobel.

"Hard to speak tribal with your tongue still tied..." Yep.
"...peel away your mask and make you real." Understood.

Excellent pen. Still lovin' your work!
