] Date Posted: 06:47:56 11/28/07 Wed  Hi everybody, I began writing poetry in February 2001, but only seriously felt the need to write 3 years later. After looking at pictures of body art, on the net one night I came across a series of body art photo's that just spoke to me, and my mind was instantly flooded with thoughts and feelings that just begged to be written. That series of poems, "From the Ashes", was the turning point for me and I no longer 'just felt like writing'…I had to write! I think my poetry came as much of a surprise to me as it did my family, though I have always had a deep need to feed my creative and artistic side, to feed my heart and nourish my soul, be it with sketching, pen & ink art, sewing, window art, or poetry. In October 2002 I joined my very first online poetry site, ‘Poetry Castle’. It is there that my poetic journey truly began, and I have been blessed many times over in reading thousands of poems by many wonderful and talented poets and poetess’s, and having met some incredible people over the years…kindred spirits whom I hold very dear to my heart, and always will. I was soon after, invited to join the Staff, and over the next 5 years, I earned every title from…Moderator, to Super Moderator, to Admin, and Super Admin (for the last 3 years), completely dedicated to the Castle, it’s citizens, and creating that warm sense of family, of which, I am very proud. My first friends at the Castle were Dawn and Thomas, who, a few years ago, started their own poetry community, ‘Poetic Constellations’. When Dawn sent me the invitation I quickly joined them, and soon after, was invited to join a warm and friendly Staff team. Again, I have been blessed thousands of times over, by the poetry I’ve read there, and the incredible and talented people I have met along the way…something I am, and always will be grateful for. I first met Andy at Poetry Castle all those years ago…and in a land of strange, and wonderful usernames, this guy called “Andy” stood out to me, instantly. However, it was his poetry that drew me in, as it poured itself into my soul. It’s that sense of connection, and the magic of the universe, that brought us to the same space, once again, and the evolution of our soul friendship…a true life-blessing. So, when Andy asked me if I’d like to be co-owner of the motel I was like “hell yeah!!!” lol. I’ve learned that life is a series of doors. Some open, some close, some are best kept locked, but ALL are a necessary part of the journey, in life, and in poetry…and I am so very proud and honoured to be working alongside my soul-friend and partner in rhyme ‘n’ crime, to create this warm, vibrant, and very special community of incredibly talented people. I feel an intrinsic sense of family here, warm and inviting, and it’s an environment that Andy and I, and our fabulous Staff team, knew we would create together, safe and drama free!!! The feed back from people thus far, is confirmation of our success. I have some very dear and special friends here at the M3 (my little nickname for the Motel) whom I have been blessed to meet along the way, and their presence here, and in my life...is cherished. To all who have joined us here, and to those whom I have yet to meet, I welcome you all with open arms…so kick off your shoes and make yourself at home…explore, and enjoy… If you ever need me I’m always available, so please feel free to contact me, any time. Thanks for sharing this, reminds me of a campfire we used to sit at, and in many ways, still do.
