Bus number 3524 (I didn't get the driver's ID) this morning )Thursday Arpil 16 2009) at about 7:23 at the corner of Rockaway Blvd and 96th Street going to Lindenwood. Well, first of all, the driver went all the way to the corner before he stopped the bus. This means he DIDN'T stop IN the bus stop area, and we had to walk to get to him. He pulled up so fast, opened the doors and just about gave those of us waiting enough time to get to him. When I got on the bus, of course, the reader didn't take my card right away so I tried again. Meanwhile, the driver PULLED away from the curb with such a jolt that I almost went flying! I had to grab the bar before I fell to the floor! As I tried to get my Metro Card into the reader, the driver snapped at me to NOT PAY THE FARE because "I don't want to have tosmell the smoke!" (I'd just finished having a cigarette while I was waiting (for almost 20 minutes) for the bus to arrive. All through the trip to Lindenwood, the bus slammed to a stop at the stops and jolted out from the curb. Road rage? Besides, I've had to get on some of these busses on this route that smelled worse than cigarettes. Just the other day I had to ride a Q21 that smelled like somebody took a bowel movement on the seat! I don't believe the MTA drivers should be behind the wheel of public transportation if they don't like certain things that riders will or will not do. And if they can't clean the busses so passengers can find a clean seat to sit on or a bus that doesn't smell like old bathrooms, then they should be fired or put into their own little cubicle someplace. I'm not paying for some abusive language from some stranger!
