The Shoe

A forgotten graveyard; weary, worn and used.
In the rubble, lies a tired old tennis shoe.
Faded pink in color, where red once resided,
the stories it holds without a chance to confide.

Did it own a jogger, who wore it to threads,
or, was it homeless, sleeping in the streets, instead?
Was it warmed by a nice cozy flickering fire,
or did it dirtily shiver in the snow outside?

Did this weary old shoe see the ocean blue,
with nautical stories of the sky and it's hue?
Did it tiptoe thru the jungle so beautious,
or was it tossed around by pets so curious?

Conversations with the rich and the poor,
while passing time behind locked closet doors.
Animated stories forever hushed without a clue,
of the life left behind by this tattered old shoe.
