Date Posted: 11:32:32 11/30/07 Fri Cityscapes (The We) I am alone. I am bewildered. Adrift in an ocean of I's. Searching for the sea of We's. An isolated shuffle down city streets; bus fumes, car horns boom boxes, sirens. People, destinations predetermined, walking, crossing, downward staring eyes. Hell-bent on their march to compete. Later, the night stars, lost behind the mask of city lights, bereft, their existence, lose all meaning. A fixed-up junky pukes in the dirty darkened end of an alley. An unfixed hooker desperately searching for her prize; condoms not necessary tonight. A sleeping woman, disheveled, tosses and turns on her park bench. A desperate search for sleep. Meanwhile a black tie tuxedoed rich man slides by, sequestered in his blacker stretch limousine, shiny, clean. Smiling into his cell phone, Enjoying a straight ahead stare. Never ever bothering to look out his window, At the We. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
