Unlaced & Undone

It echoes through the attic, dusty, dark,
a melody that soars to yearning height.
In shadow, though the moon smiled brightly stark,
her single window, opened to the light.

So, came the Saturday of April rain,
a burlap wish that fell to weathered floor.
This melancholy verse of lilting pain,
brought yester days that bled her weeping core.

Poured satin of regret, loosed at the seams,
where love had failed to consummate the dance.
Now left to wear another�s broken dreams,
unlaced from her desire, without glance.

Through April�s window, water, soon would run,
to reach, to drown, to render dreams undone.
