Loosed by Chains

Shame lay humid on her cheek
As sweetened solitude she seeks
Away from daddy’s hellish web

Superfluous bindings of his bed

Knowing there is no escape
Blueblack thighs her nighty drape
Stained red and brown to calico

Abounding in her tortured flow

Let fury drive sweet blinding swing
To rage within, a comfort bring
A moments peace, a stolen breath

A spirit chained, loosed in death

Kumquat crepe or apricot
Free to choose one final thought
A breeze, a rustle, a shortened sigh

As mists enclose her closing eye
