Date Posted: 10:28:22 01/20/08 Sun Barrels for a moon Men of Franche-Comté are braves Also they're proud and stubborn, On this land is the city of Champlitte* There live the famous Chanitois** The Chanitois have been blessed of two gifts. Their hillsides provide some excellent pinot They too have the great privilege To be the most stupid among the Comtois.*** This is the tale of how They inheritated this trait And so enter the legends book. Once between two jugs of wine men shouted Other counties having some fame but theirs And bubbling-chattering about this thought They said : "we could climb to the moon" Pleasant idea though hard to realize They decided of the simplest process They were winegrowers and so had barrels They'll piled them up and straight to the moon, So did they, going from farm to farm Horses and oxes at work, they collected All the casks they could find and Brought them back onto the main place. And pile, pile more, higher, straight, They did wonderful job, stubbornly. Finally one barrel yet to touch the moon Though not a single one left down. Men stayed wondering, thinking of, Troubled, they were, one barrel, only one, Supposedly the most clever, one said 'I know' We should take the one at the bottom And put it onto the top.
