Johnson's idea was unsuccessful because he unedestimated what he was getting into. His idea of a step by step increase was a disaster. Looking at the facts from the war his idea wasnt even accomplished. An example of this was the great numbers of lives that were lost on both sides. He underestimated the enemy by thinking that a low loss of life was going to occur. It seems that this was his fantasy plan, a cherished ideal, which was not the truth. I think that Johnson was to eager in his actions. Instead of a gradual increase, it was scattered and yielded many errors. Johnson mishandled the Vietnam conflict and made it worse.
