I think that Eisenhower's most successful foreign policy action while president of the United States was to suggest giving money and supplies to countries that maintained a non-communist government. This was an easy way to advertise democracy and also was an effective yet peaceful way to keep countries from falling under communist power. It is somewhat similar to the Marshall Aid, which gave money to European countries while they were rebuilding, because it had the same effect of preventing the spread of communism to very vulnerable countries.
