I believe Eisenhower's most successful foreign policy was the way he ended the Korean War. The Korean War was started as a UN police mission to stop communist North Korea from invading the South. The UN sent in peace keepers to stop the fighting that was their number one goal. In order to end the war Eisenhower decided to take extreme measures and threaten using nuclear force. He believed it was the only way to stop the game of tug of war that was occurring between the powers of both nations. The threat Eisenhower made encouraged both Koreas to sign an armistice ending in the same division as the beginning. Although North and South Korea were still both divided at the 38th parallel, Eisenhower’s decision to push the countries to sign an armistice fulfilled the original mission of the Korean War, to keep peace and end the communist take over of South Korea. This is comparable to his other foreign policies like the Eisenhower Doctrine which set us up for trouble in the future. Although South and North Korea are still feuding it has not brought as much damage to the United States as that doctrine in my opinion.
