scam -- former, 06:24:55 08/27/08 Wed [1]
I went to sierra dental about a year ago. I went in for a cleaning- everyday run of the mill cleaning. Dr.Salisbury came into the room and had a laundry list of things I should get done to improve my smile. He said it was a slow day and he could do the work that day. I should have known something was funny about it then, but I didn’t. I thought great, he knows what to fix and I don’t have to come back. BIG MISTAKE. I signed a paper for care credit so I could get the work done. 4 & 1/2 hours later I walked out of the office and wondered what just happened.
About 2 weeks later I get a call from Unicorn Credit Financial to verify my payment plan. I had signed a paper for care credit, not unicorn. So, after telling the customer service rep this, she said there was nothing she could do, I'd have to talk to Sierra directly. WHAT A RUN AROUND. I called, and called and called, and each time the accounts manager was not able to speak with me. I finally got her on the phone and her line was "I am new here". I don’t care..fix the error. That would be too easy. I went to the office as I was getting no where with phone calls. I wouldn’t leave until I talked to the accounts manager and get this resolved. After about an hour of waiting, mind you I had made an appointment to talk to the woman, she saw me. I went into her office- it was covered with complaints. No surprise there.
She again fed me her line- "I am new here" I asked her for a copy of the signed application to unicorn. She got me a copy- it was forged. I never saw this application prior to this day. My information was all wrong and it wasn’t my signature on the form. She told me several people have the same complaint- really? You think some one would do something about it; nope...they just kept feeding the line "I am new here". After several weeks of calls, visits and letters I got the unicorn account canceled and the charges reversed. It was frustrating...and the work was only 1/2 done at this point. I wish I could have just walked away, but having someone else complete work that probably shouldn’t have been done would have been tough as I don’t know what they were doing, never mind someone else trying to figure it out.
I had the work completed and have the bill from care credit, almost a year later I have to start over as the work was crappy. I should have known. Now they are out of business and I still have the bill....this isn’t right. I feel screwed financially and my teeth will never be the same. I have learned a lesson from this - ALWAYS DO RESEARCH PRIOR TO GETTING ANY TYPE OF WORK DONE. Had I done that I would have seen negative reviews and would have gone else where.

Sierra Dental/Care Credit Scammers -- Darcie (angry), 16:44:54 03/20/08 Thu [1]
Ok, I had tooth that needed to be replaced, saw thier ad on tv and my DDS doesn't do crowns, so I went to Sierra Dental. I have no dental ins, but they got me approved with Care Credit that very same day, they pulled my tooth and fit me for a bridge. What a deal!
I had bad feeling about all this from the start, the high pressure tactics to get the credit etc. I swear, in every room someone was having a tooth pulled! The bridge does not fit, they said it was fine, went back 2x for pain and complained, they said "give it time to settle". Bridge still doesn't fit right.
So in Nov of 07 I get a call from GE Money Bank (Care Credit) asking about Sierra Dental. THEY CALLED ME...They want to know what I had done, was it complete (it wasn't, they charged me for work not done) if I was satisfied etc. THEY offered me a refund of the $2900.00 financed by them for the service. Because people were complaining about the work done or not done by them. They would clear the balance of my "card" to 0 and refund me the $ I had paid them. They cleared the balance but I never recieved the refund check. I called every mo and they said they mailed a check, so then they cancel the check and re-issue a new one, I have to wait 30 days, and they mail a new one, which never comes. This has been going on since Nov. Now in March, they are saying that I cashed the check...LMAO. They are a hoot. Remember, they called ME.
I reported them (GE Money Bank) to the Atty Generals Office (he is well aware of these people) and the Better Bus Bureau and the OTC (they over see banking). We are filing a claim in court against them for the $ they owe me plus interest and of course, court fees.
Anyone who took a loan from Care Credit, look them up, complaint wise. There are literally thousands of people across the country who have been scammed by practitioners and Care Credit and are activly suing for thier $ back. You will know your not alone once you read the complaints. The only way you can get your $ back from Sierra Dental is to get it from Care Credit. They are rude, they lie, they hang up on you, they overcharge you, raise interest rates without notifying you, then they try and charge you to close the account.
The dr's who use Care Credit (not just DDS, it's used for Lasik, Vet care and Lipo etc) get paid immediatly by GE Money Bank once you are approved, b4 they even work on you. Then they do shoddy work, if any work at all, and skip town...all across the US. It's quite a nice little scam they have going.
There are no Dr. Salisbury's anywhere in MA, he's gone, with our $. You can't get your $ back from him. Be forwarned b4 you contact Care Credit, they are trained to give you no info or useless info and the run around till you go insane ( I actually tracked my mailman, thinking he was stealing my mail), these are hardcore customer service" reps.
Call any one you can, Better bus bureau, Atty Gen office, a lawyer if you have one. If the work you paid for wasn't done or done correctly, you do not have to pay for it.

Re: Sierra Dental/Care Credit Scammers -- Jane (need help), 12:48:21 05/29/08 Thu [1]
Could you please tell me what steps I need to take to file a suit? If I had money for a lawyer, I wouldn't be looking to get back money from the "j&^%&s" at GE Credit. Even a minimal result in small claims would ease the "financial" pain a little, but not the "unfixed" broken teeth. Thanks for any direction....

Dental records from Sierra Dental -- Don, 04:35:35 05/22/08 Thu [1]
Hello,
I recently found that Sierra Dental in Weymouth has
closed its doors when trying to contact them about a
veneer that had broken. This is the third time since 2006 that the veneers had either broken or come lose. I contacted the Board, Dental (DPH) to have my records transferred to another dentist. But now I have a broken veneer and have paid over $5,500 to Care Credit. I had a bad feeling about they high pressure tactics and wish I had listened to my gut.

Re: test -- Christine (Annoyed), 09:00:45 05/28/08 Wed [1]
I just recently found out that Sierra dental had closed it doors. All week, I have been unable to track down my dental records...I called the Registry of Dentistry who asked me to call the new dentist office (where Sierra was) and they should have my records. They don't, so they are missing! Plus, I am paying off a $10,000 loan that i took out with them. I have left messages at the Attorney Generals office and no call back yet. I don't think I should have to keep paying off a loan when the a lot of the work was not even completed (or done poorly)!
Can anyone help? I feel like I am getting nowhere!

Re: test -- S Tetreault (pooh.........same here), 19:49:51 05/28/08 Wed [1]
Bastards! Reading the posts is like reading my own story. Shoty work, work not completed, abandoned by Dr. Salisbury. What was wrong with me?? I made an appointment on a Saturday in mid 2006, I was in a chair getting teeth pulled, signing a $6100.00 health card agreement (GE Money and Citi Health). My boyfriend waited in the waiting room for six hours that day, worrying that I may have been sold into the black market. My parents were in total disbelief when I arrived home with 2 teeth pulled and a mouth full of cotton. My mom said "beware" from the beginning, what was I thinking?!! I feel so stupid and shit on. I'm in default debt with both companies, I still have a crown that needs to be replaced due to damage and I still have approx. $3000.00 of work that is yet to be competed. I am currently gathering all information that I have received for the AG of Boston and am writing letters to both credit companies. We were screwed..bottom line. I see no difference in someone stealing my credit card and racking up bills to this Jack*** receiving money under false pretenses. I'm not giving up!!...........and may god be on Salisbury's side if I run into him. Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned!!

Sierra Dental -- Joanie (PLEASE READ AND CALL HOTLINE #), 07:36:29 04/04/08 Fri [1]
DARTMOUTH DENTIST WHO ABANDONED PATIENTS AND THEIR RECORDS TO LOSE LICENSE AND PAY $20,000 FINE
BOSTON – Attorney General Martha Coakley’s Office has filed a lawsuit and consent judgment resolving allegations against Dr. William Salisbury, a dentist who owned Weymouth-based Sierra Dental and that abandoned his practice without completing dental procedures and treatments for more than 50 patients. Under the terms of the settlement, Dr. Salisbury must pay $20,000 to the Commonwealth and will be barred from practicing dentistry in Massachusetts.
“Irresponsible behavior by dentists like Dr. Salisbury hurts consumers and threatens the security and privacy of medical records,” said Attorney General Coakley. “Our office will continue to hold practitioners accountable for protecting the privacy of their patients’ records.”
The complaint, which was filed earlier this week in Suffolk Superior Court, alleges that Dr. Salisbury violated state consumer protection laws by failing to provide patients with the good dental care required by contracts and Massachusetts professional standards, failing to provide patients with access to their dental records, and failing to maintain the security and privacy of his patients’ dental records that were abandoned when Sierra Dental abruptly closed. Sierra Dental’s owners terminated their lease and abandoned hundreds of patient records and devices. The Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation into Sierra Dental in September 2007 after receiving consumer complaints about the practice.
The $20,000 payment imposed on Dr. Salisbury will help defray the cost of managing the abandoned records and providing general consumer education and assistance. The patient records will be transferred to the Board of Registration in Dentistry, which will be contacting patients with instructions about how to obtain their records. For further information about obtaining their records, patients should call the Board of Registration in Dentistry at (617) 973-0865 or send an email to DentalBoard@MassMail.State.MA.US.
Consumers with complaints about Sierra Dental’s practices should call the Attorney General’s Consumer Hotline at (617) 727-8400.
This case is being handled by Assistant Attorneys General Thomas O’Brien and Lois Johnson of Attorney General Coakley’s Health Care Division and Gillian Feiner of Attorney General Coakley’s Consumer Protection Division, with assistance from Mediator Beckie Peyton and Investigator Dante Annicelli.

I CANT BELIEVE THIS -- Amy H (enraged), 13:23:43 03/20/08 Thu [1]
I see I am not alone in my problem and how quickly I found others like me...just a quick search. Well here is my story real quick. I saw Dr. Salisbury a few months back for tooth pain and a wisdom tooth that needed removal due to pain. He took x-rays and told me that the wisdom tooth wasnt causing my pain. I could see on the xray that the wisdom tooth root was pushing against my molar. I SAW THIS! So I told him and he said he would remove it plus I needed a crown on the other tooth I was complaining about. They set me up with credit that day through Capital One and wanted to perform all the work that day...one shot deal. I thought this was odd, but had only been to dentists in private practice before, so thought that Sierra was just run differently. So I had the crown put on, gave it some time and was still having pain. Quite a few times I went back, once he wasnt there, once they had an emergency patient, and for my appointment another time I was told he was on vacation. The final straw was when I showed up for an appointment and they told me they had called me to cancel,,,,,and had spoken to me. REALLY? I could see in the appoinment book that someone had erased my name,,,,yet I had never spoken to anyone. So I gave up and went to a REAL dentist who told me that the crown was USELESS and had to be redone, this one is so bad that no wonder it hurts, that it was totally shoddy work. Sound familiar to anyone? Now I try to call Sierra to give them another chance to rectify this, since I cant afford to pay for ANOTHER crown, but they arent in business. That is how I found this site. Now I am stuck owing $1200 and need to pay for a new crown in addition.
I would be interested in any info anyone can give me regarding what steps thay have taken. I cant believe this.

One of many scammed by Sierra Dental -- Joanie, 06:59:34 03/17/08 Mon [1]
I am out over $1000.00 and never received the partial plate that I paid for (not that it ever fit right anyway). I'll also mention that this is not what I went into the office for to begin with. The problem tooth is still in my mouth (they claimed that the teeth they pulled were the cause of pain and infection in the problem tooth) - NOT!
Anyway, most everyone reviewing has been treated by Dr. Salisbury. I was not (thankfully, or I'm sure I'd be worse off than I already am)! But I'm interested if anyone else with complaints was treated by Dr. Sharkarchi or Graham? I also want to add that I think everyone in that office knew of the fraudulent practice going on (particularly Rob, one of the office managers). Finally, I urge everyone to complain to the Mass. Board of Dentistry as I have just done. The number is in one of the review emails (from Emilio - Thanks, Emilio)!
In follow up, Emilio from Boston won a small claims suit against Sierra Dental a few months ago. Maybe he will join us on this site with the details. Since they are now closed, I'm not sure if it's possible to get any money back but I'm seriously thinking of talking to a lawyer at this point. Would a class action suit make sense?
My complaint to the Board has been answered and they said they will be getting back to me for an interview. I also talked to someone at the Board office who said insurance companies, as well as the attorney general, were looking into the possibility of fraud (possibility??? Ha - it's obvious)! This will not get anyone's $$$ back but it makes everyone's case stronger with all of these complaints and investigations going on if we do sue.

Dr Salisbury/Sierra Dental -- Antoinette McCarthy, 04:35:26 03/16/08 Sun [1]
It was recommended that I go to Sierra Dental after my previous dentist told me that my insurance would not pay for a root canal(because of my age, I'm 53, but thats another story). Anyway I went there to have the tooth pulled, after doing a full mouth xray I was told that the tooth could be saved, they checked my insurance and found that it was in fact covered. After Dr Salisbury examined my teeth, he come up with a whole list of things I needed done( except for the tooth that was giving me trouble my teeth were fine). He claimed I needed caps and fillings and other root canals, the total came to well over $2000. Since my insurance will only cover $1500 per year they said I could either pay the difference or wait until the following year to complete the work. After the root canal and the temporary cap, they also were suppose to get me a permanent cap, I paid $300 out of pocket. I never heard from them again, and when I called they were closed. The temporary cap lasted all of a week, although they claimed it could last for months. I know $300 isn't much, but I still have to pay for a permanent cap elsewhere.
