Date Posted: 06:00:17 04/12/09 Sun Hi Everyone...Just keeping you updated on coming events. Please remember, we are likely still able to get another relay team together....believe me it's gonna be a good time... (when Peggy said the relay is "just for fun"...she wasn't just talking about the wild stories that Mary and friends tell us!...or Rue messing with power bars and his cell phone all nite long...or Jackie scrounging for a dry something to run in...or Tony telling us about his "fun run over at Shawnee ...actually an Army type obstacle course we all got through together... or Susan and Henry hollering about how wet they got at Athens...holding the bags for the RUNNERS...!). No...what I think Peggy meant by a "fun time" is the opportunity to build friendships for life...the kind that when you're 85...you're razzin' each other for who will get the medal in the senior division of the local 5k... so make sure you don't miss a chance to work on what counts for life...getting/building some real friendships, encouraging and helping others to be THEIR best and all the while...getting healthier for life...we'd love to see you...every time you can make it(we know about schedules)!! Karen Flying Pig paste below: It's 20 days now until Flying Pig Marathon weekend! April 12, 2009 Greetings! Welcome to our Daily Squeal Countdown! It may be less than three weeks until Marathon weekend, but there are still many opportunities for you to be "Part of the Pig." One of the most popular ways to be involved is our Cincinnati Business Courier Corporate Relay Challenge, presented by McGohan Brabender. Get three of your co-workers together to form a relay team, and walk or run the Pig while challenging other companies to do the same! Register at www.flyingpigmarathon.com. Running to recover We mentioned earlier that more than 125 charities and non-profits are involved in Marathon weekend. This year the City Gospel Mission is involved in a new effort, "Run for the One." More than 50 staff members, participants at the Mission and volunteers will be part of the Flying Pig team, participating in the Fleet Feet Sports 5K on Saturday or in the Marathon on Sunday. Watch for their team and cheer them on! Why do you run the Pig? Every runner and walker has a story, and here's a good one: "This will be the first marathon that my husband and I will be running together. I ran my first marathon in 2002 in Philadelphia, and repeated it in 2003. My husband ran his first marathon in 2005 and has run at least one every year since. Last year I ran the half Flying Pig and he ran the entire marathon. We have been training side by side since January 1st and we are determined to finish holding hands! Whatever it takes we will do this together. We have been married for 31 years, and this just puts icing on the cake! My name is Elaine Bowser and my wonderful husband's name is Terry Bowser." Best of luck we'll see you at the finish line! [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
