Looks like I went off sort of half cocked. After doing some online checking with dentists' sites, I've found you CAN get braces put on immediately after tooth extraction, although it is rather uncomfortable. So this is plausible, and many of my remarks were ill considered.

I'll withhold judgement on the pelvic exam. This is certainly possible.
