Boy, 13yo, Denmark, intrusive check of puberty status

This happened when early teen boy, 13yo, in Denmark, in the period 1970-1979. The procedure occured at a health center. In school clinic. Told it was routine procedure for all boys. Taken by parents.


ANESTHESIA

I was given medication intravenously.


ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

They performed an exam or procedure but was not given information about what they did.


SYMTOMS AFTER THE PROCEDURE

Don't remember but had sore anus and a prolonged erection on waking. I had pain or irritation in my anus or rectum.


OBSERVATIONS

My underwear beng messed up or other signs that I had been stripped naked at my lower body. The procedure or regaining consciousness took at least twice as long time than expected.

OBSERVATIONS

The school health service was more than usually interested in me around the time of the procedure and asking questions or doing exams that did not seem to be related to the procedure .


ARRANGEMENTS AND ACTIONS AFTER THE MAIN PROCEDYRE

A wire connected to perineum and one on the underside of penis. Examined testicles and penis regularly and legs put in stirrups to examine anus.

COMMENTS

This looks like an exam to determine exactly the pubertal status of the boy and test the functions of the whole genital system, which include testicles, urethra, prostate and seminal vesicles. The inspections though the anus was most probably to examine the prostat area.

They probably also checked the anatomical status of his anus and rectum, and made some adjustments, possibly with a balloon that got inflated inside.

It looks like this community performed this type of exams on all boys in early puberty.
