ALERT TO THE NEW CHEETAHS OWNERSHIP GROUP: PLEASE KEEP THE TEAM NAME THE CHEETAHS. IT'S AN ESTABLISHED NAME, KNOWN IN THE AREA AND IN OTHER FRONTIER LEAGUE MARKETS. Many past & present CHEETAHS fans have team jerseys, hats and other team wear. What are we supposed to do with it; burn it? I paid a lot of money for this stuff!!! In an effort to increase attendance, an established team name will help sell more tickets, NOT a new one. It will confuse fans. I'm looking forward to great things in 2004! Best of luck to the new ownership group!!
I've been going to CHEETAHS games since 1999, when they moved to Crestwood. I attended 36 games at "The Hawk" last season. Remember, it's the fan's game!!! Will there be free CHEETAHS exhibition games played at the Hawk, prior to the regular season starting (as has been the case in past years)?

i dont see a problem with the name change. i think it will be a fresh start to a problemed organization. the new owners are calling this a starting over process and a name change would be great. maybe the cheetahs jerseys could be used as firestarters for the first fireworks night.

I made some comments about the Cheetahs quite some time ago on the Our Sports Central (www.oursportscentral.com) indy league message board. For the most part, I believe they still apply. Please go to the following link if you wish to review and comment:

http://www.oursportscentral.com/boards/index.cfm?FuseAction=Detail&MessageID=50248&board=1

(Please note that I believe the $3,500 and $35,000 figures cited are incorrect and should be $35,000 and $350,000 respectively with regard to the stadium naming rights.)
