Subject: Plan to attend the 30 year Beta Omega Anniversary celebration this fall, Registration now open!

Dear Brothers of Beta Omega,

We are a little more than two months away from Radford’s Homecoming.

The weekend of Oct 5-7, we will be officially celebrating the 30 year anniversary of Phi Kappa Sigma’s charter with Radford University – Beta Omega. 30 years ago, a group of young men established our chapter as one of the founding fraternal Greek organizations on campus. During that time, many of those founding chapters have been removed or disbanded, while new organizations rode on the success of the Phi Kap’s presence and established their own niche on campus. Through it all, the Black and Gold has won National Chapter of the Year awards, President’s Cups, and has remained a fixture in both the community and the University.

Radford is preparing to make some unprecedented commitments to Greek Life in the very near future. Even though the Fraternity environment has changed greatly, the University continues to admire our level of commitment to our institution from all alumni. No other fraternity on campus matches the passion of this group and it has not been lost upon the administration. Having said that, this weekend is an excellent opportunity to strengthen the ties with the University, our Undergrads, and our alumni. We also not only represent Beta Omega, but by our longevity and commitment to system, we also represent Greek Life. We will be promoting this weekend to ALL Greek organizations. We need the system to grow…not die on the vine.

I’ve worked with the Alumni Office this week and came away with some pretty good news. Saturday, Oct 6, Radford will be hosting a BBQ by Cupp Stadium. It is a tented event with music, food, cash bar, etc. The event was originally scheduled to host Homecoming parties and a few select alumni groups. We have now established ourselves as one of those groups. Radford will be advertising on our behalf of our 30 year anniversary, soliciting participation, and acknowledging our role in the success of Greek Life. We are working to establish a slide show that will be ongoing during the event as well. The ability to dovetail with an established event that will give Beta Omega even more positive publicity and presence could not be ignored.

As far as cost, it will be approximately $15 per person. Again, a cash bar. This event will take place late afternoon. We want everyone to be there because this will be our official reception! PLEASE REGISTER NOW: www.radford.edu/alumni

Friday night will include the regular BT’s Happy Hour blowout. We will continue our social event at Riley’s aka Lucky’s Saturday night!

Several months ago you received some communication from us asking you to mark your calendars. Many did that, and took it step further with hotel reservations and making firm commitments in attendance. With this update, I am also asking EVERYONE to make plans now.

It is imperative that you make your hotel reservations by the end of July – ie, end of next week. The block of rooms at the Best Western held for Phi Kap will be gone. When contacting the Best Western, make sure you ask for the Phi Kap block – otherwise the hotel is completely booked. As of now – only 8 rooms remain under our Phi Kap block (5 smoking, 3 non-smoking) – CALL NOW – (540) 639-3000.

Our goal is to have 100 brothers in attendance. Contact the brothers of your era and make plans to attend. You and one more. Forward this email to anyone you don’t see listed!

Thanks!
Flip
