Subject: Phi Kap 30th Anniversary - Major Announcement!

Brothers,

We are officially 39 days away from a monumental event. October 5 -7, the charter of Beta Omega will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary, in conjunction with Radford’s Homecoming.

If you haven’t registered for the BBQ/30th Anniversary Reception at Cupp Stadium – do so – the link is below!

While we have had several Homecoming events over the past several years, this very well may be the last major event that we promote for a while. Early indications are that we are having the largest group to date committed to the weekend. While hotel rooms are booked, there are certainly opportunities to share rooms and book something on the outskirts of Radford. Don’t let a hotel bed keep you from making the trip!

Beta Omega has historically served as a leader with Radford University’s Greek system. Even though the chapter has had some “ups and downs”, the presence in our leadership has never been more apparent than right now. Radford is on the verge of making some historical decisions to the future of Greek life – and those decisions appear to be very positive! There is no better time to establish Phi Kappa Sigma, Beta Omega, as a founding pillar of the new Greek community. That being said, we have a challenge for you.

During Saturday, October 6, we will be participating in a BBQ at Cupp Stadium. This will be our official reception in celebration of our 30 years. Also participating at this event will be other Greek organizations, other classes and groups, along with the administration of the University – namely President Kyle.

It is our plan to present a check to the University at this event – earmarked for LEADERSHIP TRAINING for the Greek system. The message of how/where/etc is being delivered from those of the Advisory Board and other key volunteers. This check will serve as a “shot across the bow” from Beta Omega of our commitment to the Greek system and a challenge to the rest of the organizations to step up as well.

The challenge is this:
Between now and October 4, we are challenging every brother to make a donation to this effort – with the target amount of $100 per donation, with any amount appreciated. Donations given to the link/site below - earmarked for Leadership Training - will be included in this donation, along with a nominal amount steered back to Chapter. As in the past, donations given through this site reside in the Beta Omega Alumni Advisory account and are apportioned back to the Chapter upon request, with approval by the Alumni Advisory Board.

How committed are we? One anonymous brother has made a commitment to match every dollar donated, up to a total of $5000!!! That’s right – a matching pledge that could result in donation totaling $10,000!

Now THAT is a challenge! And sorry folks…you’re going to hear about this for the next 6 weeks…there is no reason why 400+ men cannot raise $5000!

It is IMPERATIVE that you register for this event. Not only does it give us a better feel for participation, but how awesome would it be for a group picture of 50+ alumni with a billboard check for $10k handed over to President Kyle?!
