Subject: Trella`s guide to Swordmaster of Khaine

Having played this type of SM for some time I think I have a good idea of how to play them, so here`s my guide to the Khaine specced Swordmaster.

This is based on a lvl 40 Swordmaster.

Path of Khaine: Spec right up to the top in Khaine, but don`t take all the skills. Only take the three tactics skills and Ether Dance. Use the rest of your points to get the armour buff in the path of Hoeth.

Reknown points: Split the points equally between strength and weapon skill. This will give you decent damage against both squishy and hard targets.

Weapons and gear: Get the best stuff you can get and try to get a nice mix of strength, weapon skill, toughness and wounds. A little initiative can be useful. In the main having a rounded spec of points is always useful. Intelligence, willpower and ballistic skill are obviously not useful.

Combat. Gryphons Lash is always your first attack as it always hits. Then use Quick Incision to slow down the enemy. If no enemy is within reach use Wrath of Hoeth to take you up to perfect stance. Use Ether Dance in perfect stance as your main perfect attack. Use Gusting Wind to knock enemy off bridges, knock them towards friendlies or away from endangered friendlies or yourself. Use Dragons Talon agianst enemy melee dps as an option to Gusting Wind as it will reduce the amount of damage output of the enemy by 20% for 4 secs. Use Dazzling strike will slow down enemy action build up times by 50% so useful agianst healers. Ether Dance and Gusting Wind will be your main attacks with the other to Perfect attacks helping to tip the balance in melee your not so involved in.

Use Taunt all the time in combat and use Challenge when enemy melee dps are amongst friendly squishes. Use wall of Darting Steel when withdrawing from combat. Use Aethyric Grasp when chasing enemy players just out of reach or when withdrawing from combat.

Combat awareness: Difficult to get right, but important if you want to stay alive. Keep checking immediate surrounding for enemy and friendlies. Be aware that not all healers are looking to heal you so take care to have potions and withdraw when the odds are against you until you know that you are covered by healing. Stay within the battleline and only push from it for a small amount of time otherwise enemy players will have the time to overwhelm you. Only break battleline if you have a chance to knock enemy off bridges with Gusting Wind or you know the odds are in your favour and use Aethyric Grasp on their front line and push through to use Damaging morale abilites Raze, Bladeshield and Whirling Geyser. Use Champions Challenge on all squishes or any enemy that break to far from their battleline.

I hope this is informative and useful to anyone looking at starting a Khaine Swordmaster.
