In this free will universe God has given us freedom from his rule. He went so far as to request Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This begs the question as to why God put that tree and the tree of eternal life in the garden and the answer to that is in a free will universe the grant of free will would be untrue if our choices were limited to only those God would allow. Likewise God does not prevent the choice to not believe that He is. So if a person here elects to think of God as an imaginary creation of man so be it; but those who elcect to believe the truth that God is real and we are created in His image in the true freedom He gave us have the right to beleve that also. God does reveal Himself to those who seek Him because the freedom to seek Him is part of free will also; but again He does not act here in a manner that would deny the freedom not to believe in Him so it becomes a matter of faith so as not to be a matter of compulsion.
