Much of our Bible can be considered a history and yes the new testament contains written accounts of oral histories which had been passed along orally for decades. The first written gospels were not recorded until at least thirty or so years had passed after the first Easter to Pentacost ocurrance. The New Testament does not contain several gospels and many lesser writings such as letters. We rely on the Holy Spirit to have aided in the keeping of Jesus' true pronouncements in tact. Of course the translation of the words used by Jesus is another area where corruption could have taken place. Nonetheless, I believe that the recorded words of Jesus are reliable and pray that if any meaning has been altered over time and tranmission / translation that the Holy Spirit, who ministers to each of us independently will help us to recognize the truth and distinguih any possible corruption.
