Jesus taught that God has the power to answer prayer. We can pray to any being we want to, that is part of free will. we know that if we pray to Jesus he can and hopefully will ask God to answer our prayer, to intercede for us. Of course Mary can ask God to do so also. Any being can requset God to act so if you pray to your deceased parent or friend or spouse or whoever you are in effect simply addressing that being but the power, just like the kingdom and the glory are God's forever. Consider the ending to the Lord's prayer ( I know some say those words were added later, I believe the words are n keeping with the teaching of the Living Word's words.).
